Electric Circuits Lab

This lab is well provided with different equipment like Regulated Power Supplies, Function Generators, Digital Storage Oscilloscopes (DSO), Cathode Ray Oscilloscopes (CRO), Digital and Analog meters of a wide range and standing electric equipment. This lab gives practical observation of the different characteristics of Electrical / Electronic Elements when connected differently. This gives a good foundation on Electrical and Electronic components to the students in the initial years. And also provides verification of different theorem & networks practically.

Electrical Machines-I Lab

The Department has a deep-rooted state of art and advanced Electrical Machines lab. The equipment provides an opportunity to the students to connect and operate the machines with their own hands to find all the characteristics of the different DC Machines which are recurrently used in Industries. This helps them to have a ample picture of utilization of electric power in different industries.

Electrical Machines-II Lab

The Department has a state of art electrical AC Machines lab with all advanced machines & measuring devices. The equipment provides an opportunity to the students to connect and operate the machines with their own hands. Also they will observe and understand the characteristics of different types of Electrical Machines (AC), Parallel operation of Core type Transformers and Sailent & Non-Sailent type Alternators. This helps them to have a comprehensive picture and relevance of machines & transformers in Electrical / Electronic Field.

Control Systems Lab

In this lab students undergo practical training using MATLAB over various physical systems/ transfer functions. Stability analysis is done using Bode Plot and Root Locus Techniques. Other equipment like AC Servomotors, DC Servomotors and Synchros are being utilized to observe the parameters physically. The demonstration kit to study control of AC load current having an electrical isolation with DC current (magnetic amplifier) is also available. Various circuits for compensations were designed and then included to the plant / system for obtaining stability.

Power Electronics Lab

Power electronics is a subject that concerns the application of electronic principles in to situations that are rated at power level rather than signal level. It is important for student to understand the fundamental principles behind all these power electronics converters. In this Lab, characteristics of SCR, MOSFET, IGBT, Converters, Inverters and Choppers can be studied practically by using advanced Power Electronic Equipment like Cyclo-converters, Dual Converters, Jones Chopper, Commutation circuits, Series and Parallel Inverters.

Electrical Measurements Lab

Measuring Equipment is the Back-Bone of Electrical Engineering. In this lab, the equipment provides an opportunity to the students to connect, study and calibrate different electrical measuring equipment like Ammeter, Voltmeter, Wattmeter, Energy Meter, Power Factor Meter, Frequency Meter, Earth resistance meter are performed. This Lab helps the students to have a basic idea how the measuring equipment is working/manufactured/calibrated in Electrical / Electronic Field.

Electrical Systems & Simulation Lab

The lab is equipped with electrical system simulation software's like MATLAB/SIMULINK, PSPICE, and PSCAD. In MATLAB, various tool boxes like power system toolbox, Artificial Neural Networks tool box, Fuzzy Logic tool box and Control Systems toolbox etc., are available. With help of this software a complex electrical system can be analyzed for optimization in a cost effective manner.

Projects Lab

Every student in the department has to undergo minimum of two projects in their 4 years academic calendar. One should be Industry Oriented Mini Project and the other should be Main Project. In order to fulfill the project work and benefit of the student the department had setup fully Air-conditioned Projects Lab with 35 advanced computers with Latest technical software's like MATLAB 7.2, PSPICE, PSIM, Orcad Cadence, Multisim. All the computer terminals are LAN connected with high speed Internet connectivity for executing and documenting their project work in-house.

GEOTECHNICAL LAB

By conducting the experiments related to this lab students can grab the maximum knowledge about foundations of the structure and also it enable them to safely investigate and analyze sites and also determine their present and future stability of soil. It mainly includes the practical applications at tunneling and the construction of major structures like buildings, bridges, dams, airport runways, and towers. Major Equipment: Universal compactor for light and heavy compaction, Apparatus for CBR, Direct shear apparatus, vane shear apparatus, Casagrandes liquid limit apparatus, Hydrometer, Triaxial cell with 38mm dia specimens, Hot air ovens, Vane shear apparatus, Direct shear (box shear)test apparatus, Set of sieves, Field density apparatus.

Strength of Materials Lab

This lab gives the clear idea to know about the material strength, toughness, stiffness, of Compression and Tension for various materials, Shear Strength, Hardness of Mild Steel, Copper, Impact strength, which is used to draw the stress stain diagram for different materials etc. Major Equipment: Electronic universal testing machine 100 ton, Impact testing machine, Torsion testing machine, Spring testing machine, Hardness Testing Machine, etc.

Electronic Devices and Circuits laboratory

This is the basic laboratory for the ECE students and in this lab, students get the information regarding the basic electronic components like diodes and transistors. And in this laboratory the students are trained in the working of different amplifiers and oscillators. This gives a good foundation on electrical and electronic components to the students in the initial stage. This lab includes major equipment like Regulated Power supplies (RPS), Cathode Ray Oscilloscopes (CROs), Function Generators, Multimeters, Ammeters, Voltmeters.

Electronic Circuits/Pulse and Digital Circuits Lab

This is an extension to the Electronic Devices and Circuits lab, and is used to test the working performance of different digital circuits and oscillators using CROs (Cathode Ray Oscilloscopes). This lab includes major equipment like: CROs, RPS, LCR Meter, Digital Multimeters (DMM), Fuction generators, Analog Discovery Kits(ADKs), Stand Alone PCs, Multisim, Digital storage oscilloscpoes .

Microprocessors & Microcontrollers Lab

This lab gives the idea of microprocessors like 8085, 8086 to the students. In this lab, the students are trained to write the programs for different manipulations with the microprocessors in Assembly Language Programming and are debugged using TASM. This lab is also useful for the students to know the interfacing of the microprocessors to different applications like display, control interface, etc. Major equipment: 8085/8086 Microprocessor, 8051 Microcontroller, 8259 Interrupt Controller, 8279 Key Board Display, 8255 PPI, 8251 USART, ADC Interface kits, etc.

Microwave and Optical Communications Laboratory

This lab mainly deals with the microwave components and Optical fiber communication. This lab trains the students in the operation of different microwave components like Attenuators, Directional couplers, etc. This lab also focuses on the working of optical fibers and their performance. Major Equipment includes: Klystron Test benches,Gunn oscillator test benches, optical Fibre kits, CROS,RPS,Function genmerators, Micro wave accessiories.

Digital Signal Processing Laboratory

This lab is equipped with computers which are having MATLAB 7.1 version installed in them. In this lab, students mainly focus on designing and developing different types of filters. This lab is also useful to compute the transformations such as DFT, FFT of the signals. Major Equipment includes: Mat lab version 7.1 , Code Composer studio version 3.1, DSP hardware kits, Stand Alone pcs, IBM server.

Integrated Circuits Application Laboratory

This lab is also equipped with hardware kits and mainly focuses on types of ICs used in electronic circuits and their functioning. In this lab students will observe the responses of different circuits using different ICs. Major Equipment includes: Regulated Power supplies (RPS), Cathode Ray Oscilloscopes (CROs), Function Generators, Digital Multi meters, ADK, Analog and digital IC tester.

Analog/Digital Communications laboratory

This lab is completely equipped with the hardware kits. This lab provides the information about the different types of modulators and demodulators used and types of techniques used for the processing of the analog (continuous) signals. Major Equipment includes: Regulated Power supplies (RPS), Digital Storage Oscilloscope, Function Generators, Digital Multi meters.

Electronic Computer Aided Design LAB

Theoretical knowledge and software package application skills: you will become familiar with the concept of several useful electronic circuits and professional usage of circuit simulation software. This course presents the actual concepts of several electronic devices and circuits and the design details, in order to meet a given system specification. System, signal, circuit and component considerations are incorporated. Major Equipment includes: Stand \alone pcs, XILINX software ver 12.3, SPARTRAN 3E FPGA kits.

ATL lab/ Projects lab

The main objective of this lab is to develop the projects for supporting of disabled people in their day to day life, and every student in the department has to be complete the main project work in the 4 th year. All the computer terminals are LAN connected with high speed Internet connectivity for executing and documenting their project work in-house. Major Equipment includes standalone pcs, CROS, Function generators, RPS, universal programmer, PIC development board, Atmega developnment boards, Mplab IDE, mkicro C pro, AVR studio, proteus professional ver SP7.7, BIG PIC 6 development kit with Accessories.

Fluid Mechanics & Hydraulic Machines Lab

In this lab, students will get the idea on how to develop power from water avialable at high heads and low heads. This lab is to give perfect idea about hydraulic losses and it is used to find discharge in open channels and closed channels. Major Equipment: Venturimeter, Orificemeter, Centrifugal Pump, Reciprocating Pump, pipe friction, Pelton Wheel, Kaplan Turbine, Francis Turbine.

SURVEYING LAB

This laboratory houses sophisticated instruments viz. Electronic total station, Laser theodolite, Auto levels, Vernier theodolite with 1 second accuracy, Digital plani meter, Dumpy levels and . The various other equipments available in the lab are : Metal ranging rods, Measuring chain, Vernier theodolite, Prismatic compass, Engineers plane table, Trough compass, Plani meter, Box sextant, Levelling staff, Total station

CONCRETE TECHNOLOGY LAB

Concrete is by far the most widely used construction material today. It is easy to make concrete. There is an old saying that broken stone, sand and cement make good concrete. But the same proportion of those will also make bad concrete .This is mainly because of the quality of end product. To obtain that we perform the tests on cement and concrete in the laboratory. Major Equipment: Vicats apparatus, Compressive testing machine 2000KN, Lechatliers apparatus, Compaction factor apparatus Concrete moulds, Rebound hammer.

TRANSPORTATION LAB

Transportation contributes to the economic, industrial, social and cultural development of any country. It plays a vital role for the economic development of any region. Among all the transports Road transport plays a major role. so, in this lab we conduct experiments with all the materials which are required for the road construction. Major Equipment: Aggregate Crusher, Aggregate impact Apparatus, Los Angels Abrasion tester, Ductility Machine, Penetrometer, Softening point equipment, Flash and Fire point equipment

CAD LAB

CAD is mainly used for detailed engineering of 3D models or 2D drawings of physical components, but it is also used throughout the engineering process from conceptual design and layout of products, through strength and dynamic analysis of assemblies to definition of manufacturing methods of components. STAAD PROV: STAAD Pro, is one of the most widely used structural analysis and design software products worldwide. It supports several steel, concrete and timber design codes.

WASTE WATER ENGINEERING LAB

The Environmental Engineering laboratory practical provides good insight into different experimental methods relevant to Environmental Engineering. In this lab we performs various test on drinker water and sewage samples to check pH value, total dissolved solids, BOD and COD, total suspended particles etc. as per BIS standard. It helps in to assess the water quality standard of the region, pollution load in sewage and working efficiency of sewage and other water treatment unit. Experiment on ambient air pollution parameter such as SOx, NOx and SPM, and noise pollution measurement are also performed in this lab.

ENGINEERING GEOLOGY LAB

Engineering Geology lab deals in identifying different types of rocks and understanding their behaviour. This labs helps the students in analysing the development of cracks, fissures in rocks so Students can acknowledge the causes and remedies.

Advanced CAD Lab

In this Lab, students are trained to use the licensed Mechanical Engineering softwares like EDGECAM, FLEXIM and SOLIDWORKS etc. Apart from the modelling and simulation softwares, students are able to operate computer numerical controlled (CNC) machines which include CNC Lathe & Milling machines. Student will also get the brief idea about the Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) which is widely used in manufacturing industries for material handling purpose, with the use of ARISTO 6 AXIS ROBOT along with Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) system.

Vehicle Technology Lab

The Vehicle Technology Laboratory is a centre of excellence in Mechanical Engineering. We provided engine working models and cut models to give practical exposure about automobiles to our students. The students will be trained to design and fabricate go-kart vehicles and environmental friendly bikes to participate in various competitions. The vision of establishing this lab is to provide hands-on experience to our students.

Production Technology Lab

Production technology lab gives basic idea about fabrication processes in different mechanical industries like welding, blanking, piercing, injection moulding, blow moulding, etc., to get the finished objects. And preparation of mould and casting in foundry.
Major Equipment: Injection Moulding Machine, Blow Moulding Machine, Spot Welding Machine, Arc Welding Machine, etc.

Metallurgy Lab

In this lab, students will get the idea on different metal structures for different materials, Heat treatment processes, etc., and they will be trained on microscopes.
Major Equipment: Metallurgical Microscopes, Jominy Quench Test Instrument, Single disc polisher, etc.

Engineering Workshop Lab

This lab gives clear idea about different types of tools Used in Mechanical Industries, Preparing the different types of joints in Fitting and Carpentry, connecting different types of electric Circuits used for domestic purpose in House wiring.
Major Trades: 1. Fitting 2. Carpentry 3. Tin Smithy 4. Foundry 5. House wiring.

Thermal Engineering lab

The objective of this lab is to provide hands-on experience in operating various types of internal combustion engines, boilers and understand their functioning and evaluating their performance. In this lab, the experiments are performed to measure performance parameters of the systems such as Brake power, Efficiency, Torque, Fuel Consumption, etc.Thermal Engineering laboratory is equipped with test facilities for doing research work within internal combustion engines.
Major Equipments: 1. Data Acquisition System for four stroke diesel engine, 2. Exhaust gas analyser, 3. Two stroke & Four stroke petrol engine, 4. Four stroke diesel engine, 5. Cut section model of boilers and engines, 6. Air Compressor, 7. Morse test rig, 8. Fuels testing related equipment, 9. Variable Compression ratio Testing rig.

Heat Transfer Lab

Heat Transfer Lab: Heat Transfer laboratory provides the practical exposure to the students with regard to the determination of amount of heat exchange in various modes of heat transfer including condensation & boiling for several geometries. In this lab, student will be able to evaluate the amount of heat exchange for plane, cylindrical & spherical geometries and also compare the performance of extended surfaces and heat exchangers.
Major Equipments: 1. Pin-Fin Apparatus, 2. Emissivity Apparatus, 3.Thermal conductivity of the insulating material, 4.Heat Transfer through Natural and Forced Convection, 5.Heat Transfer through lagged pipe, 6.Critical Heat Flux Apparatus, 7. Metrology lab

This lab gives the clear idea to enhance measurement accuracy and uncertainty. These laboratories to collect and analyze measurement data, evaluate measurement methodologies, and learn the capabilities and limitations of measurement technologies.

Instrumentation lab

This lab gives the clear idea to the measurement of primary variables (length, volume, acceleration, mass, time, temperature, pressure, stress, etc.).This laboratory is equipped with a series of simple, but effective and well-directed, experiments that illustrate the use and application of basic instrumentation for measurement and analysis of mechanical systems like Calibration of pressure gauges, Strain Gauges etc.
Major Instruments: 1. Pressure gauges 2. Transducer for temperature measurement 3. Strain Gauges 4. Thermo couple 5. Rotometer 6. LVDT Transducer.

CAD lab

In this lab the students are trained to use computer for drafting, modeling and analysis of a product, these facilities are provided for making real time projects. This lab equipped with 72 systems and operating on 11KVA UPS. Software: Auto CAD

Laboratories

IT department labs have more than 200 nodes and state of the art IT-infrastructure. These nodes are running on the Windows 2000/Windows XP/Linux platform and are equipped with advanced software. The hardware devices and software are used for both learning as well as research activities. The department provides adequate hardware facility for building microcontroller based systems and for doing projects in the areas of robotics, augmented reality and human computer interactions as well. The labs are also equipped with a variety of Multimedia devices and software to provide support for Multimedia based 3D and Image Processing Projects.

Laboratories

The Department has aesthetically designed computer laboratory accommodating more than 500 computers. The Lab is equipped with centralized air conditioning and 40KVA On-Line UPS for uninterrupted functioning of Laboratory. These computers are running on the Windows 2000/Windows XP/Linux platform and are equipped with advanced software. The hardware devices and software are used for both learning as well as research activities. The department provides adequate hardware facility for building microcontroller based systems and for doing projects in the areas of robotics, augmented reality and human computer interactions as well. The labs are also equipped with a variety of Multimedia devices and software to provide support for Multimedia based 3D and Image Processing Projects. Big Data Lab is established with 20 Systems. We made Hadoop Cluster with these 20 Systems. Here we are giving training for more than 30 students every year on Big Data tools apart from curriculum.

These are in addition to the mandatory laboratories prescribed by the University. More than 300 computer systems with appropriate software are made available to the students for the learning process and also for project development. All the laboratory exercises are monitored and guided on continuous basis by the qualified faculty. Each faculty member is associated with at least one laboratory. We advocate and enforce the appropriate skills for the students in CSE & IT Departments. The laboratories are open for all the students and faculty. They can make use of the applications installed in the computers for development and research works.

English Communication Skills Lab

Communication Skills has become the buzz word for many years. Every engineering graduate is expected to be a good communicator along with sound technical knowledge.

Through English Communication Skills Lab, prescribed by JNTU- Kakinada for the freshmen, we help them in nurturing their language skills with a special focus on LSRW skills. They are also trained to be experts in Group Discussion, Interview skills, Paper Presentations, Debates and Functional English. The language lab is equipped with 70 desktop computers with advanced and licensed software to train the engineering graduates in conversation skills and Phonetics. It provides them the best platform to prepare themselves for their bright career prospects.

ENGINEERING CHEMISTRY LAB

Engineering Chemistry lab accommodates the objective of better understanding of syllabus of 1st year B.Tech and absorbs the theory along with implementing it practically. The experiments have been chosen to develop skill among the learners so that they can measure, differentiate and analyze various chemical processes. This will inlay a deep understanding of the subject to help them solve the engineering problems in their area of work. Chemistry lab can presently entertain 30 students working at the same time in a session. Students experiment in a group of two to learn team work and help each other for the same.

ENGINEERING PHYSICS LAB

The Physics Department has state-of-the- art laboratory for training I B.Tech students. The Students lab includes facilities for several experiments in Modern Physics, Optics and Electromagnetism.

The objective of Physics Laboratory is to develop scientific knowledge, analytical capability among the undergraduate students and to understand the general scientific concepts required for technology and apply the concepts in solving engineering problems.

The physics laboratory is employed to practice the scientific experiments - asking questions, performing procedures, collecting data, analysing data, and thinking of new questions to explore the knowledge in physics. Students can perform experiments on Sonometer, Torsion Pendulum, Microscope, Field on Axis of coil, Lasers, Optical Fibre, and general electronic circuits. The laboratory also has provision to perform experiments on Photoconductivity measurement and Hall Effect. The lab has been designed in such a way that it ignites the technical skills on modern engineering developments in minds of the students.

Theory of Machinery Lab

This lab describes the concepts of machines, mechanisms and related terminologies.
This lab is used-
- To perform kinematic analysis on a given mechanism.
- To Recognizing machine properties like friction, gyroscope and their effects in mechanical components.
- To analyze various motion transmission elements like gears, gear trains, cams, belt drive and rope drive.
- Utilize analytical, mathematical and graphical aspects of kinematics of machines for effective design.

Mechatronics Lab

The purpose of this lab is to provide basic knowledge on Mechatronics to students. Here Students will learn to integrate Electronic system to Mechanical systems practically. Using equipment in this lab, students can measure displacement, velocity, angular velocity and strain using transducers. Also, students will learn the process of controlling few mechanical systems using microcontrollers and ladder programming.
Major Equipments: 1. DYNA Transducer kit with LVDT and Strain Gauge. 2. Model Elevator controller. 3. Water level controller.

Project Laboratory

The Department has established a separate Project laboratory is provided for the students to do their project works and other related activities where the systems are equipped with 3D Experience, AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS, ANSYS, FlexSim and EDGECAM software's.
